Twig & Resin Process

Twigs and resin make an interesting mosaic of Gustoff Klimnt like whimsy. Combining the natural and the synthetic Pinske has created a visual Kaleidoscope of imagery. For years Barre has been working with resin for casting and fabricating. One day He made the leap to incorporate pieces of branches with pigmented resin creating a wood in colored glass look. The process has become very popular for the 44 year old Artist. Clocks, bowls, coffee tables and countertops are now being created in this material. Taking note of solid surface counter top material with trade names like Corion, Pinske is essentially doing the same thing as Dupont only he sets the branches and then pours the resin around them. The Twig Chair for example took 300 hours to create including cutting around 3,000 1" branch pieces. The branches where attached one at a time to a fiberglass core and then flooded in small areas until all the voids were filled. Sanding, polishing and filling the voids takes hours of labor resulting in a such a unique and unusual visual that it almost looks unreal. .
